    I appreciate you showing this. I believe this should be the same set up as my recently acquired 08 Crossfire 5 with reverse (1600 mi). I was able to confirm with part numbers it is. I changed the fluid (Seemed to be original) that had a small amount of "dust glitter" in the DD oil is the best way I could explain it.. No shavings or large pieces. After more research I am seeing i need to actually remove the cover to inspect. I am planning to replace the bearings as well due to the small amount of glitter dust. Hoping everything looks good at inspection though because I'd rather do this in spring. Did you ever see any of this in any of your changes? Mind you I had to use a flashlight to see the shine from the "dust". Trying to be optimistic, I am hoping it's just normal wear. I was going to order all oem parts instead of using bdx. Is there a quality difference?

    • @KcYukon
      @KcYukon 8 місяців тому

      I know exactly what you mean... The glitter dust is normal I have seen it many times on the magnet 🧲 for the oil drain. The big question is how many miles on the sled 1600 miles? if so then change oil and good to go... 1600 miles it's still new... I would recheck at about 3500/4000 miles .... Or if you notice different noise pitch coming from the DD then I would look sooner. Yes BDX is better then stock so your safe there as well...

    • @justinh.1579
      @justinh.1579 8 місяців тому

      Appreciate you taking time to reply. Makes me feel better haha. Yeah only 1600 miles. So I drained and filled it. Then was nervous, so I removed the DD gears to inspect them and the bearings. They were all in great shape. I sprayed it out to clean it and filled it back up with new fluid again. So I will leave it alone for now. How many miles did you get out of your F6? Did you solve the turbo whining noise after bearing replacement?

      ahhh its tricky in the end it came down to my impeller being to small... So terrrible take off but once you got it ripping man did have topend... around 72 mph if I recall now... It was a dog out of the hole spinning and cavitattion way to much had to go easy on the throttle... If you got cavitation I would recommend Impeller and Impeller Ring to look at first...

    Checked my oil on my 1996 XR400 I just bought. When it was cold it showed nothing on the dipstick. I added a quart and a half, ran it and when I checked again it was overfilled and smelled like gas. The overfilling makes sense now, but why did it smell like gas? It was also thin and discolored like gas was in it. Thanks

    • @KcYukon
      @KcYukon Рік тому

      Gas would be not a good sign you might have a gas leak that slowly seeping into the crank case.. Maybe the Petcock is leaking. I would change your oil right away and see how bad is it?

  • @IanCairns393
    @IanCairns393 Рік тому

    Hey man, so in the video you put on 64s for 6000-8000 ft I believe and you said you were going to go a little lower to prevent it from over revving, but isn't lower weight going to induce over revving as it makes the clutch easier to spin. Guess I just wanted to know how it performed, I'm going to be riding in 7000-9000' in a few weeks and the owners manual says 66 oz weights for that elevation. Regardless, My Dad and I are going on a trip together in a few weeks, I don't live at home anymore but my sled still does. Do you think this project is something my 60 some year old father could tackle with some average tools and pretty decent mechanical knowledge. He's pretty comfortable with sleds and likes wrenchin on em so I guess I was just wondering how hard it was for you.

    • @KcYukon
      @KcYukon Рік тому

      Its easy you take your cover off remember there is a spring in there so it will kick back a bit... if this is arctic cat the weights will have a set screw you have to sometimes use heat to get that set screw out. then you take bolt out pull weight out put new weights in and put set screw back in I would use red loctite when set screw is put back in to be safe..... so 8 bolts for cover I think it is and then once that is done you pull sheaves apart so you can get at the weights... The heavy there weight the harder the engine works it takes more power to push a heavy weight ... the lighter the weight the easier the engine revs up becuase its spinning something that has less resistance.... Excuse my grammer I have to go out and get some beer! long day :)

    The seals on tailcone bearing are shot!! Why rebuild whole pump then leave that in just because you dont know how to remove it?? This causes huge problems for those trying to do it properly. You cant leave a bearing in a pump with bad seal! especially when its in a jet pump!!Thats why in ultra 150 pump rebuild kit they give you both bearings ,main and tailcone.Good luck you may get away with it for a short while! When you get to end youre explaing how impeller seals. Boy youre going to cost many guys lots of money leaving spacer that seals impeller shaft to seals. You need to use grease on and between seals or they will fry as soon as you start engine. I'm glad I watched this.ps. When in doubt look at parts breakdown and know what parts go where and why, best of luck to you have a Blessed Day!!

      all this does is give you an idea of what your looking at... If its a project you can't take on then take it to a dealer and get a professional to do it!!! I do videos for the back yard guy who still wants to learn themselves by no means am I professional... I take things apart and put em back together... I learned to rip small engines apart as a kid and put them together and they always ran... I have countless videos of people thanking for my insight on videos... I personally drove our 2008 Jeep Diesel to over 400,000 kms and then I sold it for good money. It was still running strong when I sold it just like knew... I think with low kms that engine I was told will go over a million... I was told Mercedes developed that V6 diesel in the 80's and kept perfecting that motor over and over... Mine was awesome all i can say... Electrical worked, nothing was not working at 400,000 kms A/C was strong... Transmission still strong... I did do the delete and other then regular maintence it was fine... So like oil change, tires, I did have powersteering hose blow 2 times but that was easy fix. Ya I loved it, I went to Ram EcoDiesel and I love that truck even more better for work and play. BUT FREAKIN EXPENSIVE TO BUY :(
